What type of pencils should be used for sketching?

Don't worry.... we are here to help you out for choice of Sketch pencil.

 

So directly come to point...

Since we have wide range of pencils so we are confused between them

 

So you can use H or HB pencil for sketching and for shading you can use 4B and 6B . Harder leads are used for roughing out your drawings. Harder leads are very light and so good for sketching outline of drawing. such as skin, skin tones etc. Since it is light, it can be erased easily. without leaving any marks on page. Harder leads can also be used if very soft shading is needed.

Softer leads can be used for darkening the final lines. They are used for shading darker areas. Such as hairs, beards etc. In short for lighter areas use HB or 2B , for mid-tones use 3B or 4B or 5B and for darker areas use 6B and 8B. And use eraser for highlights.

Useful tips from our side:

# You can sketch layer by layer, it means that first you need to sketch the darker layer first don't match the darkness from reference only you need to shade a little, now in 2nd go you need to darken it... and repeating these steps you can archive the true colours.
